A big fight is underway over the federal budget and the debt ceiling. Different sides are struggling for political advantage. And the government may shut down. What’s at stake in this fight? Why does it matter for our movements?

Economics is mystified – for a reason. We want to demystify the conversation so we can better understand:

* How does the Biden budget compare to a social justice agenda?
* What are the MAGA/Republican political goals?
* Will they be able to devastate what remains of social programs?
* How can we use the next election cycles to shift this fight and win our movement’s long-term demands?

STV is joining @_convergencemag for a virtual event on 6/1 where we’ll learn about the federal budget fight and what’s at stake for our movements.

We’ll be joined by economist Eric Verhoogen, San Francisco Rising Co-Director Emily Lee, and Seed the Vote leader Jason Negrón-Gonzales.
